G4S: Corporate Contractors Policing Our Streets
Occupy the London Stock Exchange
As the west midlands and Surrey police privatisation contract valued at £2bn goes out for tender we must begin to ask questions about these private security companies, namely G4S.
G4S have recently been accused of underpaying and overworking its employees in Nepal, South Korea and Malawi a scandal which their new director of media relations (former BBC world correspondent) Adam Mynott is having a tough time clearing up.
G4S, besides owning the majority of private prisons have also recently taken over all asylum accommodation provisions in Yorkshire.
Prison and police privatisation is a murky path and we have only to look across the pond to see judges getting bribed to send youths to prison in a ‘cash for prisoners’ complex.
And yes this is the same G4S who will provide over 10,000 private security for the Olympics and with the new G4S ‘streets to suite’ campaign we’ve know doubt that they will have powers to arrest, detain and transport citizens during the Olympics after all this is big business.
G4S will be getting a big surprise during the Olympics, all unaccountable and tyrannical corporations will face justice.
