Heartbleed Security Bug & Android Devices
If you have an Android phone or tablet then you may be vulnerable to the Heartbleed Bug.
You can check the devices security by downloading the Heardbleed Dectector from Lookout Mobile Security from the Google App Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lookout.heartbleeddetector
If your device is vulnerable, contact your phone provider and ask what they are doing about it. The more people who do this the quicker updates will be issued.
In short, the Heartbleed Bug allows an attacker to see 64k of your devices RAM. The content of that 64k may include encryption keys, usernames, passwords and any other sensitive information that is being used by your device. A second attack at a later time may get different information from the device as the content of RAM ‘moves’ and so, with enough time and attacks, eventually private information will be captured. Until a vulnerable device is fixed by a firmware upgrade it cannot be considered secure.
